Article from the
The Glen Eden 10 Miler

Neil Turner, life-long member of the club and recently retired President of 21 years, explained that the stringent regs for street events, operating for half a decade now have resulted in many old established races closing down.
“We have to have qualified traffic management” said Neil, “and although we receive some help from Auckland Council, it’s a hefty piece of organisation, involving 40 people with marshalling, meetings, paperwork, cones on the road... we’re very safety conscious and have a clean record.”
Neil is keen to stress that this family-friendly club is open to all, “People are under the misapprehension that you have to be an elite runner to join, but many people come down as a walker or a jogger at the beginning of a season and by the end of that same season they can be running half marathons. We also have summer events including track and field running for people of 5 years to any age - we cater for everybody”.
So dust off those running shoes, check the website, and head over to Glen Eden Runners
where you’ll get fit, have fun with like minded people, and at the prize-giving tea after next year’s race, enjoy the amazing spread, in case you were worried about getting too slim!
